Improving football playing skills through teaching games for understanding: A small-sided games approach

Teachers may find difficulty to design assignments that will increase arousal and keep students’ attention during stages encourage them critically reflect on their actions physical education activities. Designing maintain students' activities can be a challenging for teachers, often resulting in reliance traditional skills-based approaches. This study aims address this issue by applying the Teaching Games Understanding (TGfU) model with small-sided games (SSG) approach enhance football playing skills. The used 3 vs invasion evaluate skills, game performance evaluation tool (GPET) as skill instrument. Decisions regarding coding execution are made accordance subject of tactical challenge solved, including on- off-ball attackers. findings revealed experimental group’s decision-making ability when passing was 7.97 dribbling 7.28. results group were 7.98 those control 7.48. research valuable contribution demonstrating how using TGfU SSGs improve skills quality teaching education.
